Thanks to the wonderful technological inventions, advancements in science and modernity in treatment, an increasing number of people are being cured of cancer or surviving it. Cancer survivors live long enough, however, to be at risk of other chronic conditions like high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. Some survivors are at the risk of recurrence of the original cancer. Some experience side effects.
Like others, cancer survivors should engage in physical activity for its preventive benefits and additional benefits. For example, physical activity reduces the adverse effects and side effects of cancer treatment. Risk to new chronic conditions is minimized. Evidence suggests that physically active adults with breast or colon cancer are less likely to die prematurely. Physical activity, in some cases, prevents the recurrence of original cancer.
